Log Cabin

I have just found an amazing Blog about a couple who are building their own log cabin in Northern Michigan. Forgive me for not being quite up to it with how to link other people's blogs to mine, but I will get there... eventually.

I can't wait to read about the finished cabin, as it looks so 'cool' up there! My family and I have stayed in a couple of these types of cabins in Scotland and they are just great for holidays! Lucky people... and yes, Pea-green with envy.

I know I said I hadn't wanted my blog to be about food... but folks this just has to be mentioned. I took my dad out to lunch as it was hlaf term... That was my first mistake! The world and his wife were out with their children! So, the pub I had earmarked (pretty setting by a lock) was crowded out. Dad suffers from chest complaints and asthma so no sitting outside in the chill for us! On to Wisley Gardens.. as it was only minutes further. Same problem.. but eventually we settled for the Millenium Cafe. Sadly a mediochre meal, which wasn't very hot and served in cartons!! Service was great.. just the cost and warmth were not up to it.

On the other hand ... the orchid displays were stunning. I took loads of photos and well... I will never be able to adequately scrapbook them.. I'll just have to be 'discerning'! They were wonderful and the perfume... not quite sure if it was the orchids or the rhododendrons they had in there. Dad was quite impressed with the whole greenhouse and it does take a bit to impress him! I enjoyed the whole experience although I think Dad was a little fed up with waiting for me to take all my photos. :-)

Urm!! Yet another fantastic feed!

This blog is not about eating but, it does seem that recently, I have spent my time going from one eatery to another. It may be months before we go out again...! Between us, we decided not to go out for Valentine's Day. It just seemed an excessive cost when this year we have been married for 26 years and know how we feel about each other. I am told daily! :-)) We had good old baked potatoes with a few trimmings, instead!

However, I did not leave work until past 6 today (our caretaker was running late so it was ok to still be in school)! I had, as is not unusual, forgotten to take anything out of the freezer-I'd got to work about 7.40 to do some marking! DH was already in when I got home so I just laughingly said, "Where are you taking me?" He knows me so well! We grasped the moment and off we trotted to try one pub DH liked the look of (from the outside) and which he passes on his way home from work, daily. This was visited very briefly (Plan A), and never will be again. Then, Plan B was executed (and yes, he had a Plan C if ncessary).

I can recommend the Belgium Inn for it's warmth and hospitality. It was really pleasant and in a pretty village surrounding. We were served quickly and were not kept waiting for the meal. We started with a home made soup followed by pasta. Yummy and oh yes! I really do need that diet now. I must stop eating!! The gym and WW, here I come!

Amazing Meals

Well, we survived another food fest! It was a fantastic evening full of good company, yummy food AND entertainment. The dragon dance was impresive especially as it was a couple of tiny ladies carrying the huge head and body. They danced for an hour. It was just as well we had that hour space as the meal was one of the fullest I have eaten... well at least since Christmas!!!

At the end of evening there was a disco... but mostly of music I was familiar with in my teens and twenty's. Sigh! Paula and I 'bopped' in our seats. DH would NOT dance. Party-pooper! We stayed a full 4 hours! It was a great night and one I would recommend.

Sadly, back to work on Monday. I had a migraine all day... (and gratefully went to bed as soon as I got in) and I haven't had one of those for ages. I think it might have something to do with the amount of salt in the food... I have noticed this before... and had a bad head the following day. We drank loads of water, too! Must try to keep a note of this for the doctor!

So, to today! I have prevaricated long enough here, so must go to tidy up the abysmal state of the scrap-room, which is really supposed to be our office! Hah and piggies might fly!

Celebrations of the yummy kind!

Well, I have done it... I have just created my own blog and it is scary! What do I write? Just need to make those first keys move and voila!

Well, I can tell you I am off to celebrate Chinese New Year tonight. DH and our friend Paula are going to our local restaurant to do this. We were 'invited'! It is such a popular evening that they have had to extend it from 2 evenings to 3. I usually look down, somewhat wistfully from where my stitch group are meeting, and watch the festivities going on. However, this year I will actually be there in person. We can hear it from across the road, it is always so very loud, so maybe I will take earplugs. I am working tomorrow, so do not need a noise induced migraine for my troubles. It will be a colourful, noisy, tasty (or should that be tasteful?) evening. I can't wait!

Oh yes! Hang the diet! LOL
